1. What are zebra blinds?

Zebra blinds (also known as day & night blinds) are window coverings made with alternating sheer and solid fabric layers. By adjusting the alignment of these layers, you can control light and privacy throughout the day.

They offer a modern look and flexible light control without the bulk of traditional curtains.

 

2. Do zebra blinds block out all light?

Zebra blinds are designed for light control, not full blackout.

They reduce glare and allow you to manage daylight and privacy, but some light may still pass through, especially at night. If full blackout is required, please let us know so we can recommend alternative solutions or fabric options.

3. Are zebra blinds private at night?

Zebra blinds provide good privacy when the solid fabric layers are aligned.

However, when interior lights are on at night, shadows or silhouettes may be visible through the sheer fabric layers. This is a normal characteristic of zebra blinds and should be considered when choosing this style.

4. Are zebra blinds suitable for bedrooms?

Yes, zebra blinds are commonly used in bedrooms for their clean appearance and flexible light control.

That said, they are not a complete blackout solution by default. For customers who are sensitive to light while sleeping, additional solutions may be recommended.

5. Are zebra blinds easy to clean and maintain?

Zebra blinds are low‑maintenance.

Recommended care:

  • Light dusting with a microfiber cloth

  • Gentle vacuuming with a soft brush attachment

Avoid:

  • Water or liquid cleaners

  • Chemicals or abrasive materials

Improper cleaning may damage the fabric.

6. Are zebra blinds durable?

With normal residential use, zebra blinds are durable and designed for daily operation.

Like all fabric window coverings, gradual wear, fading, or mechanical stiffness may occur over time due to sunlight exposure, frequent use, or improper handling. This is considered normal wear and tear.

7. Do zebra blinds look “cheap”?

Zebra blinds are widely used in modern homes for their clean, minimal design. We recommend viewing fabric samples to ensure the colour, texture, and style suit your space and expectations.

8. What control options are available?

Zebra blinds can be operated using:

  • Manual chain control (standard option)

  • Motorized control (battery‑powered with remote)

Motorized blinds are convenient and eliminate exposed chains. Please note that our motorized options do not include smart‑home integration unless otherwise specified.

9. Are zebra blinds safe for children and pets?

Manual blinds use a chain mechanism, which should be kept out of reach of children and pets.

For improved safety, we recommend:

  • Proper chain tensioning

  • Considering cordless or motorized options where appropriate

10. How accurate do measurements need to be?

Zebra blinds are custom made to size, so accurate measurements are critical.

If customers choose to measure on their own, we recommend allowing approximately 5 mm clearance on both the left and right sides to ensure smooth operation and proper fitting.

While self‑measurement is possible, we strongly recommend using VS Blinds’ professional measurement and installation services for the best results.

11. What mounting options are available?

Zebra blinds can be installed as:

  • Inside mount – installed within the window frame for a clean, built‑in look

  • Outside mount – installed outside the frame to improve light blocking and cover imperfections

Our team can advise which option is best for your space.

12. How long does production and delivery take?

Typical timelines are:

  • Production: approximately 5-7 days, subject to overall order quantity.

  • Shipping: approximately 4-6 weeks, depending on shipment schedule and logistics.

All timelines are estimates, not guarantees, and may vary due to production volume, shipping schedules, or external factors.

We will keep customers updated throughout the process and notify them once the order arrives locally for installation scheduling.

13. Can I cancel or return my order?

All VS Blinds products are custom made‑to‑order.

Once an order is confirmed and production has begun:

  • Orders cannot be cancelled

  • Products are non‑refundable

Please review all details carefully before confirming your order.

14. What payment terms do you offer?

Standard payment terms are:

  • 50% deposit upon order confirmation

  • Remaining balance due after installation

Production does not begin until the deposit is received.

15. What warranty do you provide?

VS Blinds offers a 1‑year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects only.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Misuse or improper handling

  • Incorrect installation

  • Accidental or pet damage

  • Environmental factors (humidity, moisture, mold, etc.)

  • Fabric fading due to sun exposure

16. What if there is damage or a missing part?

Any damage or missing components must be reported within 48 hours of delivery or installation.

Clear photos or videos are required for review. Resolution may include repair or replacement at VS Blinds’ discretion.
